In three months, Dropp completely rebuilt the Karafs application with React Native and delivered Android, iOS, and Progressive Web App experiences from a shared codebase. Following testing and release, the new product entered production and is now used by Karafs customers.
Dropp’s responsibility focused on complete client-application development, quality assurance, and release management. Karafs’ internal engineering team owned and supplied the backend and APIs.
Karafs previously maintained independent Android and iOS applications built with Kotlin and Swift. Both applications were stable products backed by more than a decade of continuous development, so this was not a rescue project for an unreliable system.
The strategic challenge was preparing the product for its next stage. Maintaining two separate codebases increased development and coordination costs, while Karafs also needed a PWA. Continuing with the existing model could have created a third independent development track, requiring every capability and change to be implemented, tested, and released multiple times.
Karafs used the PWA initiative as an opportunity to consolidate its client technology and move all three platforms to React Native.
Moving from Kotlin and Swift to React Native required a complete rebuild rather than an incremental migration. The previous native code could not simply be transferred into the new architecture.
Karafs supplied the UI/UX and product design, while Dropp turned those designs into a production-ready cross-platform product. The new foundation allows Android, iOS, and PWA experiences to share core implementation, helping future features evolve more consistently across platforms.
Throughout the project, Dropp’s mobile team integrated with Karafs’ existing APIs under a clear ownership model: Karafs retained responsibility for backend engineering and product design, while Dropp owned application development, QA, and release preparation.
The engagement went far beyond moving a set of screens to a new framework. It rebuilt product journeys directly connected to daily usage and the commercial model of Karafs.
The delivered scope included calorie and nutrition tracking, personalized diet plans, daily meal logging, subscription management, and payment flows.
Each journey needed to behave consistently and reliably across Android, iOS, and the PWA. Dropp translated Karafs’ product designs into three user-facing outputs while keeping the shared product logic and implementation aligned within one codebase.
A complete rebuild for a widely used product required careful validation of every essential journey. The quality assurance process included manual testing, regression testing, and validation across different devices and platforms.
The delivery team included two React Native developers, a part-time QA specialist, and technical oversight from a tech lead. QA covered critical flows such as meal logging, diet access, subscriptions, and payments across release builds.
Dropp also owned release management. The final applications were prepared and published through Cafe Bazaar, Myket, App Store, and other required distribution channels, while the PWA was deployed to production for live users.
The project combined a complete technology transition, three user-facing outputs, critical payment and subscription journeys, multi-device testing, and release management within a three-month delivery window.
Dropp maintained a focused development and QA cycle throughout the engagement and completed the React Native rebuild on schedule. The Android and iOS applications and the PWA passed quality checks, entered production, and became the live experience used by Karafs customers.
The project replaced three potential development paths with a shared technical foundation. Karafs can now evolve its mobile and web experiences more consistently without maintaining three independent client codebases.

Karafs’ confidence in Dropp’s delivery led the relationship to expand before the initial engagement was even complete. Midway through the application rebuild, Karafs also entrusted the DevOps and infrastructure operations of Karafs and Luna to Dropp Tempo, an engagement that continues today.
Following delivery of the Karafs application, Dropp began developing the application and parts of the backend for Luna, Karafs’ women’s health product.
